I’m just your average mad scientist with words…

I was born and raised in South Africa, growing up in the small town of Gqeberha, formerly known as Port Elizabeth. My family bought a PC in the mid 80’s, setting me on the path of all things geeky and nerdy from a very young age. Like so many nerds, comics, Dungeons and Dragons, video games, and science fiction and fantasy novels were an early and important part of my childhood.

The 90’s were where I developed my love of music. I guess it was probably a case of right place and right time, but I discovered heavy music at the age of 13 with the album ‘Dirt’ by Alice in Chains. Hearing that album was like a small portable nuclear device going off in my brain, and it made me devour as much heavy metal as I could get my hands on. WIth a stroke of luck, I managed to attend my first metal show at the age of 15, seeing Megadeth touring their ‘Youthanasia’ back in 1995. I was fairly sure after that that I wanted to be in a band and sing, more than anything else.

The next decade involved various computer studies, traveling and living abroad, and working in real estate.

It was in 2007 that I finally got to play in some metal bands, but ultimately I was forced to put pursuing music on hold with the general chaos of life disrupting and pausing those dreams for a bit. In 2015, I had the opportunity to go study music in America, and achieving an associates degree in music business in early 2016 from McNally Smith College of Music in St Paul, Minnesota.

While in the USA, many people noticed my voice and accent, saying that if music didn’t work out, I should try my hand at voice over. Having done a small bit of voice work at that point already, I decided to return to McNally Smith to study audio production, reasoning that it would add to my skillset and make me a better and more employable voice over artist. Unfortunately the school went bankrupt, in a situation that was somewhat farcical at the time.

Ultimately it led me to moving to Los Angeles in early 2018, where I transferred to Musician’s Institute, switching from production to vocal performance. I achieved my bachelor’s degree at the end of 2021, and spent the next year attending online voice-over classes, writing a guest article for the Buzz Magazine along with meeting and working with various indie bands. The end of the year culminated with me getting a small part from Blizzard Entertainment in Diablo Immortal, as my first video game role.

Eventually though, it was time for me to leave America, and move on. Fortunately, I prepared for this eventuality, and possess a high quality home recording setup, ready to be deployed anywhere in the world. For now, the future lies open, with current plans including an album in the works, and a foray in streaming.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed this small snippet of who I am. Please feel to reach out if you have any questions or would like to know me better!
